Our group visits several libraries an academic year to introduce students to behind the scenes aspects of special librarianship here in the DC area. In 2009-10 CUA/SLA member Joanna Russo arranged our visit to the the Library of Congress, (Jefferson Building) with a special session at the Manuscript Division (Madison Building). Tours were also made to the Department of Justice libraries and The Folger Shakespeare Library.
We provide students interested in special librarianship: opportunities to meet librarians in the field; firsthand knowledge of special libraries through field trips and lectures; career preparation to enter the workforce or gain new skills; interaction with fellow students.
